Nokia has just announced that the lawsuit that they have against Apple has not been dropped but further more they are continuing their pursuit for justice and investigating Apple’s technology.
Nokia claims that Apple has built their technology on several of Nokia’s patents. Patents which give Apple devices lower manufacturing costs, smaller sizes and long battery life.
Traits that make the apple devices a lot more attractive but let’s see Nokia’s official statement on the matter:
“Nokia has been the leading developer of many key technologies in small electronic devices” said Paul Melin, General Manager, Patent Licensing at Nokia. “This action is about protecting the results of such pioneering development. While our litigation in Delaware is about Apple’s attempt to free-ride on the back of Nokia investment in wireless standards, the ITC case filed today is about Apple’s practice of building its business on Nokia’s proprietary innovation.”
Nokia has just launched an update for Python to version 2.0. However, this upadte is a bust because you cannot actually update if you have the 1.9.7.
And on Pyhton’s official website there is no such update the latest update is still the 1.9.7. Nokia’s update is stand alone app to run python enabled apps and if you want it you will need to hard reset or uninstall everything Python.
Sometimes you need to format yout memory card as well so be carefull when trying to update to Python 2.0.
Previously I talked about the contents of the E72 Box and what not. Today I will be sharing with you my thoughts on the E72 itself , more specific its design and functionality.
The E72 has proven to be a very well designed phone with slick lines and a very fine touch. The rounded corners and the chromed parts make it extremely eye pleasing and gives it an edge over other business device. What I like most about this new design is the metal band around the side buttons and the middle button. These two give the device a completely unique feel.
The QWERTY keyboard is small but quite handy, compact and not at all hard to use. Mainly because the buttons are rounded so that you can reach each of them individually. The three side buttons are chromed as well as the power on/off button which makes them stand out from the black plastic body. The earphone is wide and narrow to hear better and the chrome ring around it makes it pop from the main screen.
Also, the E72 is wide and skinny and very easy to hold and to use.The wider QWERTY phones are the better in my opinion as you have all need in just one keyboard.
The E72 is a delight to look at and the moment you enter a room full of people every one’s eyes will be on you the moment you pull it out and place on the table. Well done Nokia you made a very handsome phone with high functionality.
The OVI Store has been in our lives for some time now and I would like to review this new feature from Nokia. The OVI Store has one major bad spot: payment methods.
I have been trying to buy an app from OVI Store and I could not get passed it. The Nokia payment method is very bad. After completing their forms and doing everything they say I ought to do it gives an error. They have no PayPal or any other similar method, just VISA or others like this.
Which can be a very annoying process, PayPal is a much easier method and they should also say if it is enabled only for certain countries. And if so which countries are those? Because in mine it obviously does not work.
To sum up, OVI Store has a very faulty payment method because it offers few solutions and sometimes after all that you may find that you did all that work for nothing.
For a few days now I have been fiddling with the Nokia E72 and now it is time to tell you my impressions of the device so far.
The first day with the E72 was a very interesting one as I held in my hands one of the most anticipated E series device since the E71. My first impressions of the phone will be about the accessories and the box that it came in.
The Nokia E72 Box was very small and not at all uncommon. The accessories are quite typical for an E series phone charger, headphones, USB adapter, cleaning cloth and a leather holster with a leather strap. Also, the package featured two manuals for the phone and a warranty.
However, the leather holster is quite a handful because the phone is very hard to pull out. The leather strap makes it easier but still it can be quite annoying. The headphones and the other quite common and nothing stands out about them, the memory card that phone comes with is a 4 GB one.
This is it for day one with the E72 more on this device coming soon, stay tuned .
Psiloc World Traveler app is one the most useful tools to have on any business phone. This app is not only very fast and easy to use but also extremely informative.
World Traveler helps you keep up with your weather forecasts for the upcoming and allows you to schedule flights. The weather forecast is accurate and has a slick design to go with it. You can select major cities from countries all around the world. And the app will give you a weather forecast for the following week.
Furthermore, this Psiloc world Traveler can show the time from three different major cities around the world and the map location of your current location. This is very handy when travelling to a different time zone and have a meeting planned.
Also, you can use the app to schedule a flight from the nearest airport. This is still experimental but World Traveler is a must have app for your E75, for as we all know travelling can be very hard without the proper tools at hand.
World Traveler has all you need to keep you in sync with your needs: clock, weather forecast and a flight planner. You can get the app for your E75 at the OVI Store by following this link:http://store.ovi.com/content/5199
The brand new Nokia E72 just got unboxed by yours truly, thanks to WOM World Nokia. I have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on the E72 and have my way with it.
How does the E72 look like and waht does the box contain… well feast your eyes on this small video of the E72 and official content.
As we all know most of the phones these days have 3G enabled which means that they are also built in modems. The E75 is no exceptions and offers quite a good internet speed over a sturdy connection.
I have been reading across the web how you can use your NokiaE75 as a modem and I have seen some very complicating stuff. So I decided to do it myself and stop reading al that mambo-jumbo. Now here are the ingredients: Ovi Suite 2.0, a USB cable and the good old E75.
Connect your device to the computer and start de OVI 2.0. After that open tools and select connect to the internet. You have two options set up your connection manually or automatic, I went for the later. All you have to do is select your operator and your country. The rest is up to the phone and the Ovi Suite. The connection takes about 2 minutes and after the first it is done instantly.
So if you are away from home and you need a fast internet connection just plugin your E75 and take whirl at this fun tutorial.
tweeter mobile is an app for your E75 that shows the latest tweets from around the world. You can see your location, your friends locations and their latest tweet.
The app works very well it has little lag and a list view for those who are accustomed to this type of display. Graphics of this app very well crafted and has very nice animations also. You can trigger the menu from the menu button and you can set up your account from the my settings panel. After you login you can see your followers status updates and your following as well.
The most annoying trait of this app is the fact that it has advertisements but that is the price to pay for a free app. This is a very cute app with a few interesting options and a nice design you can find this app here for free: http://www.twittermobile.co.uk/download.php
