Share your internet connection with your E75

While I was looking for a tutorial or a program with which to share my net connection with another laptop or mobile phone without using a wireless router.

I found the solution, without need to use any program but require some settings in Windows. All these settings take about 5 minutes. Time depends on your level of knowledge of Windows XP. I hope this helps.

  1. Click Start-> Control Panel> Network Connections.
  2. Right click on your cable connection and select Properties.
  3. Select Advanced, then check Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection and uncheck Allow other network users to control or disable this shared Internet connection.
  4. Click OK and save settings made the connection.
  5. Now click on the inactive wireless connection and choose Properties.
  6. Click the Wireless Networks.
  7. Select Add from the menu of Preferred Networks.
  8. Give your network a name filling the field Network Name (SSID).
  9. Check This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network and then uncheck The key will be provided for me automatically.
  10. The Network Authentication select Open and the Data encryption select WEP.
  11. Now we need to set up a network password lest anyone enter it. Although this method is not safe, for one can break the password, if you live in an area where people are scarce this security measure is quite enough. Password to enter the Network key and Confirm network key is reintroduced.
  12. Click OK to save the connection and then OK again.
  13. Double click the wireless connection and select Refresh network list. When the network appears select Connect. Enter the password chosen in step 11 and select Connect again.
  14. Search network on the phone, then select Start Web browsing and then enter the password when it is required.
  15. Next steps are necessary only if no gateway reply error occurred. To remove this error some extra configuration is required. Select the wireless connection in Network Connections menu, right click and Properties.
  16. Then select Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) and Properties.
  17. Check Use folowing IP address automatically.
  18. Enter the IP address: 192.168.0.1 Subnet mask to: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway and leave the field blank.
  19. In Preferred DNS you can type your own typing in Start-> Run ipconfig / all. If not then enter 192.168.0.1 go to Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS 192.169.0.2.
  20. Click OK and again OK. Then follow the instructions in steps 13 and 14 to connect.
  21. If you have questions you can ask them in the comments box found in the basement of this tutorial.

Open the file with a notepad and copy the http address which will look something like this http://live.eliberadio.ro:8000. Open a new file with notepad and paste http address and then save the file with that ending .ram.

Now copy the file on your Nokia phone. This tutorial is valid for any type of phone, not only for the Nokia E75, that has RealPlayer installed.

November brought us from Nokia 5 brand spanking new phones. However these new models are low-end S40 series devices.
