What if the next E phone will be MAEMO

introducing maemo 5 150x150 What if the next E phone will be MAEMO

MAEMO OS has taken Nokia fans by storm and has been the best thing that Nokia World 09 had to show. How would you like it if the next E-series device will run this brand new software?

Just think how easy it would be to multitask on a MAEMO phone and how much more useful a touch-screen on business phone would be rather than a multimedia one. I would definitely be excited to toy with such a device, I mean we have all seen what the N900 can do.

Please vote below to let me know your opinion.

Nokia E75 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

bluetooth wifi 150x150 Nokia E75 Bluetooth and Wi FiThe Nokia E75 is foremost a business phone and  I will not review its picture making capabilities or gaming capabilities. Two of the most important things about a business phon are bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

However, the E75 lacks a great deal in this department, as we all know its already famous bluetooth problems. Bluetooth works fine for a short period of time until it starts running out your battery. Which goes out at an alarming pace if you have a bluetooth headset. I have had no problems with bluetooth with this test device or I guess it depends on the compatibility. It takes a lot of time to establish a good connection but after that is done everything goes well.

The Wi-Fi connection works like a charm and I found hotspots that my E51 and my 5800 didn’ t even detect. Browsing on Wi-Fi and chatting is made a whole lot easier by the full QWERTY keyboard. The connection is somewhat stable and the speed is very good indeed. Much like its predecessor, the E71 , it has no problem in this department and the speed is quite good.

To conclude, the E75 may not be the best out there but it is still a great device to toy with. I have had it for two weeks now and it is just amazing. More on my personal experiences with this device you can read later this week when I will be making a detailed review of the device.

Nokia 7705 Twist Promo

The Nokia Twist just got its first promo video. And because it is made for the NAM(North American)  consumer market, this device has a pretty funny and clever commercial. This is one the funniest commercials by Nokia ever. Of course I think that Verizon, the company who will bring the device to the NAM soil, had a hand in it.

The Nokia E75 Battery

Lemon batteryThe Nokia E75 battery life has been of the most important issue with this phone. I have been testing the phone for over a week now and I have to say, so far the battery life of this phone is very good.

With or without dual mode this phone has yet to let me down. The battery lasts for around five days, give or take, which is an average battery life for any phone.

However if you keep your bluetooth on all day long the battery life will lose at least one day, but it is normal for any phone with bluetooth. We all know that this is a battery drainer.

To increase the battery life you need to shut down  the bluetooth after you are done using it. The battery is relatively good although it may need some improvements.

Contacts&Messaging on the E75

The Contacts and Messaging are the two foremost important actions for a business phone. The E75 does great in that department, keeping you informed of all your missed calls and messages, in avery unique and practical way.

The Contacts menu displays the company on the right side of the name, as you can see in the video. Which for me can only be a plus, as with my E51 I have to search every time for certain persons with the same name and I have to see details in order to know which is which. No need to organise them in groups any more this function makes it easier for business owners to keep in touch with their suppliers and partners.

Messaging is also very easy you can choose to send a message or an email of that person has an email account in the contact list. Do not forget to set up your own account, because you will not be able to use this function otherwise. To search for a person just open the slide and type his or hers name. A small bar with options will appear, you can choose to send a message or just voice call.

The E75 offers top functions for its users in this department, there is none better for a business owner. The full QWERTY keyboard makes all the difference in the world. Texting and emailing are actually at your fingertips, like never before.

Hands-On

12092009042 150x150 Hands OnI have just received an E75 from WOM WORLD for testing for the next couple of weeks. I am looking forward to see what this device can do and try to see if there any bugs that I can fix or sort out.

For now you can feast your eyes on the unboxing video I made with my other Nokia. Unfortunately it is not in HD so you cannot actually see very well. But I made pictures of the device. From now on I will make a post of its detailed features each day. Some may include things you know or not, so tomorrow you can feast your eyes on a Contacts Menu and Settings review and tutorial.

12092009044 150x150 Hands OnMy first impressions: The device is of a very sturdy built, with a metal encasing it has a good balance to it. The phone is a bit on the heavy side, but that is a good thing in my book as it gives you the sense of control. When you pick it up the device has a certain something that makes you feel it in your hands and doesn’t give you the impression that you can drop it at any time.

The slide works like a charm, a clap! and the full QWERTY keyboard pops right up. No problems in this department, the keys are very easy to press and this kind of keyboard is very easy to use. Emailing and texting  are no longer a problem, both can be done faster and more reliable.

12092009041 150x150 Hands OnOverall the phone is in tip-top shape, no problems or isuues so far. Except for the headphone, but i believe that is because it has a blue sticker over it that may cause it to malfunction. Have any of you had any problems in this department?

Nokia Messaging-Social Messaging Beta

Nokia is bringing email, IM and social sites into one application. Below you have a demo of the new app from Nokia’s Beta Labs. This would be great for the E75, having Twitter and email in one place, at a very low cost. To download the application go to: betalabs.nokia.com.
