Dual Mode vs GSM Mode

By Alex C | August 13, 2009

nokia e75 front 150x150 Dual Mode vs GSM ModeI have been asked which is better dual mode or GSM mode. So here is a small tutorial about this feature that we have.

Why am I loosing signal when I enter a building? Well considering that not many phones have had 3G in the past, the current infrastructure for this type of connection is quite weak. So, at times you might seem to be loosing signal but that is nothing to worry because GSM kicks in.

When should I keep my phone on dual mode ? Most of us keep dual mode on because they have an Internet connection on their mobile device. If you do not have one and just use Wi-Fi wherever you can find it, than GSM should work fine for you. Another downside is the battery consumption, dual mode does that a lot faster than GSM mode.

What about GSM mode? Talkers should really switch that off because it will improve time of talking by an hour or so. Also, this goes out to those of you who like texting.

Ok, lets recap. I have told you about the difference between 3G and GSM, the conclusion is simple. Do not use dual mode unless you have an Internet connection. For talking and texting select GSM mode it will work better for you.

How do I switch between dual mode and 3G? In the main menu select Tools, then Settings. Now go to Phone and then Network, after this just select Network Mode and switch between the two modes.
