Nokia E75 Flop/Success

The Nokia E75 has just hit the market and in my country the phone costs  448, 99 . On the Nokia online shop you can preorder the phone at a price of £379.00.Contrary to my expectations the phone has been brought by Vodafone. I for one thought that with the deal between Nokia&Orange for Nokia Messaging it would for sure be an Orange phone. But until now no news about the email service or the phone being available in Romanianokia e75 qwerty phone 300x240 Nokia E75 Flop/Success

A1 has bought the rights to Nokia messaging for Austria, I wonder if Orange only had a contract for France and England. Althought, they said that they will hit the major markets by the end of the year. Untill now, no further news. And because of the near release of the N97, people have shift their focus from this phone.

Even Nokia has yet to release a commercial or anything about the E75 in my country. I mean its been available for almost a month and still nothing. Are they waiting for the Nokia Messaging rights to launch it along with the phone or was it released to soon after the E71. Or, perhaps it is because it was released right around the time the N97 is about to go public.

Although, Nokia has been focusing its attention on developing the messaging system and the E75 is their priority for that segment. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see if the E75 was a flop or a success.

Nokia Symbian Comparison

What I have been interested in doing for a while is to compare the Symbian OS 5-th vs 3-rd. Well in case you are thinking that one is meant for touch and the other for normal screens, I believe that the fifth is more an updated  third edition. I even thought of three categories to review the two: design, functionality and speed.

686px symbian os logosvg 300x119 Nokia Symbian Comparison

DESIGN&GRAPHICS: Well the design is mostly the same but the fifth edition has a few special effects for windows. When switching between them one can enable those from the theme menu by turning theme effects ON. This is what makes the fifth edition better than third when it comes to graphics. Plus the main menu is much easier to use with fewer folders.  All the applications are stored in one folder and the most used ones are available in the main menu. So this round goes to fifth edition Symbian.

FUNCTIONALITY: Basically the two have the same functions and there is almost nothing new in this department. Except, the copy/paste function of the fifth. With this you can copy/paste any text. For example, you might like a message or a quote from the web, just highlight it and select copy, than paste it onto an SMS or even on a site or somewhere else. Again I would have to say that the fifth has more to offer than then third edition.

SPEED: This is something I have tested personally out of sheer curiosity. This test is based on the speed it takes for your phone to start and display a network. The fifth edition is about 10 seconds faster than third. The load time of the later is about 30 seconds while the other takes under 20.  I don’t compare menu navigation because it is roughly the same. Still the fifth has a faster media folder navigation, when I was scrolling through pictures on my 5800 they displayed immediately without any loading screen. While, my E51 displayed the loading screen on every single one of my camera pictures. Yet again the fifth is victorious.

To conclude, the fifth edition of Symbian looks more like an updated version of the third edition. It is slicker, faster and more reliable. Most of the previous versions glitches have been fixed. Lets hope the E75 doesn’t have the same problems as my E51. And from what I have seen it is definitely an improvement.

Nokia E75 App Review: Mobiola Webcam 3

Mobiola Webcam is by far one of the most useful video sharing tool available. I used to think, back when I had a phone without Symbian “Wouldn’t it be great if I could use my phone camera as a webcam?”. Well, now the Mobiola application does just that, and more.

Firstly, lets talk about the webcam feature of the application. With the new E75 ‘s 3.2 Mpx camera just imagine the clarity and smoothness of the picture. I only used it on a 2Mpx one and it was awesome. Also instead of a live feed of yourself, you can show your phone menu. I once showed somebody how to install an application on theit phone via this application. This just proves my previous statement that Mobiola Webcam is by far the best video sharing application on the web.

Furthermore, it also has a storing mode in which you can just store what you want directly on your PC. Let’s say you have a notebook with bluetooth and you just want to film something and post it on a video sharing site (like YouTube). Just select the video recording option and proceed. The whole film will be automatically stored on your notebook. This is useful in case you want to record something and your phone doesn’t have enough memory.

Last, but not least, the connectivity is quite well done there are no delays between what you film and what it displays. Whether you are using it as a webcam or just as a recording tool, it works perfect both ways. Also, there are three connection methods USB, bluetooth and wireless connection

All in all, the Mobiola Webcam is a great application for the E75, it replaces the webcam with a more powerfull recording tool, that can render your video feed at much higher resolution.

Game Review: Panda Manda

Thebubblegames.com has a lot of great games with amazing graphics and unique gameplay. One of those games is Panda Manda, a quest game that uses the accelerometer to control the main character, which as you might have guessed is a panda.

Moreover, this game has stunning 3D graphics and runs smoothly on any 3rd edition device, but it is compatible with only a few of those. Because it uses the accelerometer to control the panda’s movement while playing a map. The game features three different modes of gameplay.

TheQuest is the one where you have to finish a certain quest to finish the game, basically it is the storyline mode. PlayMap enables you to play a hand-picked map of your choosing, whether it is one you created or predefined from the games database. Create Map is where you actually design your personal map to enjoy your panda’s movement, much like in any strategy game that has map creator built in.

The gameplay is very simple tilt your phone in the direction you want your panda to move, but be careful as it moves on a map from which he can fall down. When your panda falls from the map it is game over and you have to start from the begining of the level. The objective is similar to that of  Pac Man or Nokia’s Snake , collect as many goodies or whatever as you must to complete your goal. However you have a certain amount of time to finish the game, so keep that in mind.

To conclude, Panda Manda is a great 3D Adventure game with stunning graphics and entertaining gameplay. Also it is accelerometer enabled so you don’t need any buttons to play it on your Nokia E75.

Nokia News: Nokia is rendering credid cards obsolete

Nokia is planning to launch the 6216 classic phone with a new technology called Near Field Communication or  NFC. The announcement was made at the 3rd annual WIMA conference, held at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

The new device will be available in the third quarter of 2009 at a price range around 150 EUR,  before taxes and subsidies. The NFC technology will be built in on your SIM card by the operators. Nokia E75 Game Review: The Bubblies

The Bubblies is a game that uses the camera technology, a similar game I have presented a few days ago:  Ninja Strike . In this you have take care of a pet and some actions can be done via the main camera. This is another amazing game that you might enjoy on your E75, I know I have.

bimg5 Nokia E75 Game Review: The BubbliesIn the end of the post you wil also find a small demo movie of what this game can do. Bubblies brings the world of mobile gaming to  another level, as you will see for yourself in the video at the end of the post. You can actually interact  with simulated pet through the main camera of your E75. To set up the camera you have to use a white wall and do not move the phone until the process is ready, also make sure that the room is well lit.

Moreover, the interaction with the pet is not limited to just the petting action. You can play ball, clean him or after him and  others. This is one of the best pet simulator games out there, but what intrigues me is the technology used behind this game. Just think that in a few years with the help of this camera technology and accelerometer mobile gaming will have little or no use for buttons. Sadly, there are quite a few games or applications these days that use either of those.

To conclude, this is an awesome game with a great vision behind it and probably the most creative game ever. So if you want to test your E75 with such a game than visit thebubblegames.com website. Now I leave you with the video I promised from the beginning of the post.

Nokia E75 Game Review: Chicken Panic

The Bubble Games Chicken Panic is an amazingly fun game similar to the Frozen Bubble. Although, it is similar it is not the same. The gameplay differs enormously and it is funnier than the later.

The game offers two game modes HISTORY and ENDLESS. The first game mode concentrates on a story, which I will let you discover for yourselves. As for the later, it is an endless campaign in which the only thing that matters is the high score. Match as many chickens as you can and score points.

As I have said before the game has a gameplay similar to the Frozen Bubble. What makes Chicken Panic different? Well it is probably the fact that instead of bubbles you have chickens. Which, by the way, after you match the colours they explode, instead of falling down.

Furthermore, instead of having one chicken and previewing the rest, you have eight chickens of different colors. Each chicken can be blasted upward or at a maximum degree of thirty on each side. Basically, you must have a strategy and always keep in mind what colors you have left and in which spot it is better to place them.

The graphics are exceptional and it is loads of fun for your brand new E75. Especially now that it has a pretty good graphics adapter, with the N-Gage capabilities. If you are looking for a game to give hour upon hours of entertainment that I recommend the Chicken Panic.

To sum up, the game has proven to be a worthy adversary for the Frozen Bubble. So, if you are wondering what to buy for your Nokia E75, than Chicken Panic is the answer. Plus I have just discovered another great game by Bubble Games that uses the camera technology I have talked about in my previous posts. But more on that next time.

Nokia E75: Is it worth it?

This is the question that everybody asks themselves when they want to purchase a phone or anything by that matter. So is the Nokia E75 worth it or not? Well my answer is: heck yes!

nokia e75sm Nokia E75: Is it worth it?The E75 is a great device with extended email capabilities which is one of the greatest concerns for any business man that owns a PDA or a smartphone. Most of them are not as email enabled, so to say, as the E75. Now that Orange and Nokia are planning to launch their partnership worldwide this is just easier than ever.

Moreover, the phone has some features like accelerometer and sliding full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard makes it easier to text and email. Which is a plus from any other phones you might find on the market these days. The email capabilities are helped by the full QWERTY keyboard as it is easier to control the phone and email your friends or business associates.

Furthermore, the accelerometer makes gaming on your phone all that much fun. And if you want you can find a lot accelerometer applications on the web. The best part is that some are freeware, as this feature is quite new in the world of mobile gaming and everybody seems to be eager to make applications for this.

So without further ado, the E75 is worth it. The price and quality ratio is quite acceptable indeed. Other phones that have this features are a lot more expensive and have less to offer than the Nokia E75.

Nokia E75 Game Review- There can be only ONE

In case you are wondering what game to play on your Nokia E75, now that it has N-Gage capabilities, then I would have to suggest ONE. This is a fighting game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, but in this you have the option to customize your character.

ngage e3 03 Nokia E75 Game Review There can be only ONE

One is by far, in my opinion, the most brutally entertaining game for the N-Gage. Whenever you get stressed at work and want to vent a little just pull out your E75 and bash some heads. This is an excellent game, with astonishing graphics and a lot of combos. The more you play it, the more you get caught in its web of fun.

Furthermore, it also features a variety of playing modes like story , versus, survival, training and multi-player. The multi-player is done via bluetooth. The game has  a lot of customizing options for your character as well, so you can make it unique, and you can unlock further details as you progress through story mode.

The more you play it the more exciting it gets, the opponents get harder to beat, and keep in mind that there is also a ranking. If loose to much than you loose points but if you win then you gain points and move up in the ranks. Each competitor has a certain number of points according to your rank and his.

To sum up, One is a great game with marvelous graphics and uniquely entertaining gameplay. So if you are bored you can just beat your friends through bluetooth.
